I-T searches in godman Kalki's properties produce Rs 35 crore

HYDERABAD: Income tax officials in Chennai found Rs 35 million rupees in cash, including foreign currencies, during raids on the properties of the self-styled god in Chennai and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

I-T detectives have been searching the properties of Bhagwan and his son NVK Krishna for the past two days in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The Ekam Kalki temple at Oneness University in Varadiahpalem in Chittoor was also raided.

During the searches, income tax detectives found Rs 25 crore Indian currency and foreign currency, mostly US dollars, equivalent to Rs 10 crore. Most of the money was found in Chennai and Chittoor.

In Hyderabad, the I-T department raided the office of Studio N, a channel owned by Kalki in Manikonda.

I-T detectives also found a large number of real estate documents from companies and people linked to NVK Krishna.

We searched White Lotus (WL) Structures, Golden Lotus Services and other company documents. NVK Krishna's wife, Preetha, is also director of several companies.

I-T detectives suspect that Kalki Trust received donations from devotees in India and abroad. The I-T department is also investigating whether a Bollywood or Tollywood actor has donated money to the trust.
