Thane: 27 years later, the police solve the murder case only to find the defendants dead

THANE: They have solved a murder case of a 27-year-old person, only to find out that the defendant died seven years ago, an official said Thursday.

On July 23, 1992, the defendant, Iqbal aka Nanhe Khan, stabbed the deputy inspector to death, who was then in the city of Kalyan, during a confrontation, said senior inspector of the crime branch, Nitin Thakre.

After the murder, the defendant, who was also wanted in connection with several robberies in the area, escaped and eluded the police for almost three decades, he said.

During a recent review of the unresolved cases, the criminal branch of Thane police obtained information that Khan's whereabouts were last traced to the village of Jasola in the Okhla area of ​​Delhi.

Last week, a Thane police team went to Okhla to catch Khan, but learned that he died of a medical condition seven years ago, Thakre added.
