MP: Master probe on drowning of 5 children in Dewas

INDORE: On Wednesday a masterful investigation was ordered on the death of five children in a pond in the village of Kanka Khajuria on the morning of the festival.

The five children, aged 6 to 12, were among the seven who had bathed in a pond that arose due to heavy rains in the area. Suddenly, one of the children went into deeper waters, and four others launched themselves to save him. One by one, they all sank.

The district magistrate, Dr. Shrikant Pandey, has constituted a magistral investigation and has asked the additional district magistrate Narendra Kumar Raghuvanshi to submit a report in 20 days, according to an official statement.

Dr. Pandey has asked the ADM to find out why and with whom the children approached the body of water. The probe will also determine how the body of water was created on land, whether legal or illegal. It will also verify the security arrangements that were made in the water body and, otherwise, who would be responsible for it.

The ADM has been asked to present the reasons for the cause of the death of the children and the measures to be taken to prevent such incidents.

The death of the children had caused CM Kamal Nath to announce an assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the bereaved families and tweet their condolences.
