Ju0026K politicians will not be detained for more than 18 months: Jitendra Singh

JAMMU: Minister of the Union Jitendra Singh He said on Sunday that Kashmir politicians who were arrested after the repeal of article 370 will not remain confined for more than 18 months.

He also said that the leaders were not arrested, but lived as guests of the house and even received CDs of Hollywood films and the bread of their elections.

Political leaders have remained in VIP bungalows. We have even given them Hollywood movie CDs. They have also been provided a gym. They are not under house arrest. They are guests of the house, he said in a public demonstration here.

The Minister of State for the Office of the Prime Minister said that political leaders in Jammu and will not be detained for more than 18 months.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration detained an unspecified number of political leaders, separatists, activists and lawyers when the central government announced on August 5 the repeal of the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and its fork in the Union territories.

Among those arrested since then are three former chief ministers: Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

The Minister of the Singh Union also said that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir belongs to India and the central government is committed to restoring the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir.

Parliament has already passed a resolution on this in 1999, he said.
