Andhra Pradesh: Three Maoists killed in exchange for fire at the Vizag Agency

VISAKHAPATNAM: At least three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the reserve forest area near the Madimalli area, near the Darakonda on Sunday.

The incident took place during the weekly celebrations of the Red Rebels of the CPI Maoist Formation Day. It should be remembered that the Maoists gave everything to celebrate the event for a week until September 27.

Exactly one year ago (September 23, 2018), the Maoists shot dead at the then MLA of the Araku Valley, Kidari Sarveswara Rao, and the former MLA of the Araku Valley, Siveri Soma, near Livitput, under Dumbriguda Mandal, in the Vizag Agency.

Police said that, according to intelligence reports about the presence of Maoists in the Vizag Agency, they have intensified combing operations. The exchange of shots lasted more than 30 minutes before some Maoists escaped into the forest, police said.

The chief confirmed the death of three Maoists in the shooting exchange and said the shooting exchange continues. Police have not yet established the identity of the deceased Maoists and will get a clear picture of the number of deaths, the seizure of weapons and some others on Sunday night, he added.
