India vs South Africa: Why did Shubman Gill receive a first test call?

NEW DELHI: young first-order hitter Shubman gill On Thursday he received his inaugural test call for the next three-game series of tests against South Africa at home. The decision of the selectors was not a surprise, since the talented Batman has consistently performed on the national circuit, as well as on the A side of India.

The law, which celebrated its 20th birthday four days ago, was part of the India A team, which won the unofficial ODI series of five 4-1 games against the South Africa A team earlier this month.


The 2018 U19 World Cup star made his international debut earlier this year, playing two ODIs against New Zealand. But his initial foray into the big leagues was not very successful. He scored only 16 runs in two innings.

However, Gill has an enviable first-class record so far in his nascent career, scoring 1443 runs with an average of 72.15 with the help of four centuries and eight fifty years in 14 games. He scored 90 in the first unofficial Test recently concluded against South Africa A, which India won by seven wickets.
