When students showed their creativity in the Astitva of BMCC
On August 20 and 21, the BMCC The campus was full of palpable energy and obvious zeal. Such were the vibrations of the tenth edition of Astitva , the college party celebrating the heritage The event was opened by the main guest, Rahul Deshpande.
He explained the importance of classical music to make us more compassionate human beings and urged them to understand their own potential and to compete not with others but with themselves and try to do better every time than last time. Then he captivated the audience by singing one of his songs. The judges also guided the students with their experience for the respective events.
The two-day festival conducted 12 competitions including dance, singing, fashion show, 10 seconds film. Astitva gave platform to more than 1600 participants from over 70 University s. Students from several University s took the trophy home including SP College, BVP College, Modern college (Shivajinagar)
The performers and their performances made their way from the stage to hearts; the ethnic air filled the campus with its serenity , the enthusiasm in the student’s added charm to the day. The photography, painting and sketching exhibitions had the onlookers look twice. The food and game stalls set up by budding ‘ BMCC preneurs’ took care of visitors’ appetite amusement alike. Astitva supported several NGOs, including Niwaant, Teach for India, Melghat Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra by putting up their stalls. It also followed the principal of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in its overall conduct.
The feedbacks from the participants were overwhelming. One of the participants, Rutuja Kulkarni, while speaking about Astitva quoted, “Astitva is a big and unique platform for students. The event was very well managed and conducted. I had a really good and enjoyable experience; the volunteers were friendly and eager to help. ”
Astitva is organized by Heritage Collective team of 130 members mentored by the principal and faculties. The whole team rejoices the success of the event which is reflected in the feedback of the participants. The 10th landmark year has become benchmark in the journey of Astitva. The purpose of promoting rich Indian culture and heritage and instilling national pride among youth is been fulfilled. This decade descended to its epic conclusion promising many more to come!
