Car sales in the United Kingdom fall again, but demand for electric vehicles increases

LONDON: British car sales fell by 1.6% annually in August of low sales as the demand for diesel models continued to decline, but there was a 377.5% increase in battery registrations electric vehicles, according to an industrial body.

Demand last month stood at 92,573 cars in the second largest car market in Europe, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)

August is typically the quietest month in the new car market, so the big increase in EV ( electric vehicle records) are very visible but especially welcome, said SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes.
