The eighth season of the Mizoram Premier League starts today

KOLKATA: The new season of the Mizoram Premier League , the premier soccer league in the state, will begin on Thursday (September 5, 2019) at night at Lammual Stadium in Aizawl .

This season’s launch program Mizoram Premier League will start at 6:30 pm and India international striker and Mizoram football star Hehe Lalpekhlua will start the new season of the league. This will be followed by events such as grassroots exercises, traditional and contemporary dances and programs of some well-known artists.

There will also be the introduction of all the players who will be taking part in the Mizoram Premier League and also the display of the new jerseys of every participating team.

The Mizoram Premier League will be contested by eight teams: defending champions and three-time winners Aizawl FC, two-time champions Chanmari FC, treble winners in 2017 Chhinga Veng FC, Mizoram Police, Electric Veng FC, Ramhlun North FC, FC Venghnuai and Chawnpui FC.

Each team will meet twice in the course of the league with the four best teams ensuring a place in the semifinal stages of the league. While the semifinals will be two-legged draws, the clash of the summit will be a unique encounter.

This will be the eighth edition of the Mizoram Premier League , which has now become one of the most popular state leagues in the country. Over the years, the Mizoram Premier League has worked as a launch platform for many players who are now plying their trade in the I-League or India Super League.
