Kriti and Kartik had worked together on 'Luka Chuppi' earlier this year (hence the blatant reference to hiding) while Juno had produced the romantic comedy of Kriti 2017 Bareilly Ki Barfi 'with Junglee Pictures. Kriti and Juno share a great equation, so when he was approached for a special appearance in Pati Patni Aur Woh, she agreed, a source said. According to reports, his role is based on Neve de Parveen Babi's lines of the original. She shot in Lucknow for a day before running back to Mumbai.

Kartik and Kriti recently enjoyed jokes on Instagram when he posted a photo with Lord Ganesha. That image also had Kartik whom he had trimmed. When the actor wondered why, she pointed out that he would also take her out of her position.

Like the original, the remake revolves around the character of the male protagonist. A family man with a wife (Bhumi Pednekar) and a child, Chintu Tyagi de Kartik is attracted to his glamorous secretary (Ananya) and this leads to another hiding game. However, the script has been adjusted according to modern sensibilities, while retaining the essence of the original.
