IndiGo joins Sony to offer entertainment content to flyers

NEW DELHI: Indigo It will soon offer entertainment options for flyers on board and at the airport. The low-cost operator has partnered with SonyLIV, a video on demand (VOD) platform, and the brochures will have access to the content catalog by downloading the application and buying the weekly subscription package at just Rs 25 before taking off.

While Indigo is yet to announce when this will start, the low cost carrier said “this offer will be valid on all domestic flights, accessible at Indigo ’s check-in, booking area and more.” Indigo will provide a link to flyers through which they avail the subscription. Once the transaction is closed, flyers will have unlimited access to SonyLIV’s premium content catalogue for the next 7 days.

“Catering to over 10 crore users, SonyLIV is home to award-winning English shows like The Good Doctor, Counterpart, The Spanish Princess, Britannia, Victoria along with a string of originals like Gullak, Heartbreak Hotel, Holycross and 16 amongst others. The platform recently launched over 2000 hours of content in Tamil and Telugu spanning films, web originals and shows. The upcoming India-West Indies series, Ashes and the 11th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati is slated to launch on the platform next month. Indigo customers will open a world of entertainment at just Rs 25,”the airline said in a statement.

Indigo chief commercial officer William Boulter said: “We are pleased to offer entertainment to our customers whilst at the airport or onboard an Indigo flight. Passengers can download the SonyLiv app on their mobile phones or tablets to access our entertainment experience and catch up on latest shows and movies at SonyLIV (for) Rs 25. This new feature will provide a bouquet of entertaining content, which will help us deliver a delightful experience to both our business and leisure travellers.”

Sony Pictures Networks India, business head (digital), Uday Sodhi said: “From long queues to delays in take-off, air travels consume a sizable time which people spend on binge watching…. this alliance enables us to extend our footprint to Indigo ’s expanding consumer base and cater to them with affordable, diverse and on the go, entertainment options on SonyLIV.” The offer to Indigo has been curated in sync with the viewing interests of frequent flyers and vacationers.
