Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, unique test: Rashid Khan becomes the youngest test captain

CHATTOGRAMA: Spinner Rashid Khan On Thursday he led Afghanistan for the first time in a Test Match and broke a 15-year record to become the youngest cricket player to lead a team in the longest format of the game.

He broke the record during Afghanistan's only test match against Bangladesh. Now it has broken Zimbabwe Tatenda Taibu record that was set in 2004.

Rashid accomplished the feat at the age of 20, 350 days, while Taibu had previously written the record at the age of 20 years 358 days.

Afghanistan received the Test status in 2017, but did not have an ideal start in the longest format of the game, as they were defeated by India in two days in their first Test match.

In their next game, Afghanistan was able to beat Ireland on seven grounds earlier this year.

Afghanistan had appointed Rashid as captain for all game formats after the disappointing World Cup campaign in England and Wales earlier this year.

The team could not win a single match in the tournament.
