Producer of TV series reserved for aspiring actress
the Hadapsar police on Tuesday booked television serial producer and a woman for duping an aspiring actress to the tune of Rs 35,000 on the pretext of offering her a role in a serial to be telecast on a leading TV channel. the incident happened between May 9 and 25.
the actress runs a business of herbal products in Hadapsar area and she had received a text message from the suspects on her social networking site offering her role in a television serial.
Assistant inspector Manoj Patil of the Hadapsar police on Wednesday said,“ the two suspects including a woman started making communications with her after she expressed interest in acting in a television serial. the suspects lured her to first register her name with a Mumbai based production firm and obtain a cintacard for receiving acting roles in serials and induced her to deposit Rs 35,000 in their bank account.”
Patil said,“ the business woman used an UPI application for transferring Rs 35,500 in the bank account of one of the suspects and sent relevant documents via email. She realised that she was tricked after the suspects switched off their cell phones.”
“ the woman initially filed a complaint application demanding action against the suspects for cheating her. We conducted a preliminary inquiry and registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Criminal Code and the Information Technology Law, he said.
