Mohun Bagan faces Bhawanipore Club in a draw in the Calcutta Football League

KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan will play his first match since Sunday Calcutta Derby against the archrivals of East Bengal when they face the challenge of the Bhawanipore Club in their CFL First Division A meeting in Kalyani on Thursday.

The greens and the Maroons, which were held goalless by East Bengal, are not in a very comfortable position since they are in seventh position at the table with five points in four games. On the other hand, Bhawanipore Club is in second place with 10 points for its kitten in five games.

For the record, Mohun Bagan's only victory in the local league so far has been in the Kalyani Stadium , when they beat BSS Sporting Club on August 28.

An interesting subplot for the game is that the Bhawanipore Club is trained by Shankarlal Chakraborty, who led Mohun Bagan to the CFL First Division A title last year. Our goal is to win every game. We are in a good position in the table, but we want to improve it. Right now, Mohun Bagan is very dangerous. He played the full 90 minutes of the derby with an offensive mindset, said Shankarlal Chakraborty. We will not be defensive in our approach or resort to waste of time.

Mohun Bagan is likely to lose defender services Ashutosh Mehta and striker VP Suhair due to injuries collected during the derby. At the same time, it remains to be seen if the striker Salva Chamorro - who was an unused substitute in the derby - is reinstated in the initial XI on Thursday.
