Australia withdraws the offer to organize the 2023 women's hockey World Cup

NEW DELHI: Australia withdrew its offer to welcome women 2023 hockey The World Cup as the governing body of the game FIH decided to reopen the bidding process due to the interest expressed by national associations in organizing the next edition of the World Cups for men and women.

The FIH said interested nations will have to submit their bid at the end of by this month to enter the race for either the 2022 or 2023 men's or women's World Cups.

The executive board will make the final decision on both hosts at its next meeting scheduled for November 8 and 9, 2019 in Lausanne.

It's really encouraging that additional National Associations have signaled their interest in bidding. Since there was no issue at all in re-opening the bidding process at this point in time, the Executive Board has logically taken this decision. Meanwhile the evaluation process of all bids already received continues, FIH CEO Thierry weil He said in a statement.
