Sebi renews primary market advisory panel

New Delhi, September 4 () The Sebi market regulator has reconstituted its Primary Market Advisory Committee (PMAC) that advises on the policy framework and the development of initial public offers and other similar segments.

The 23-member panel is chaired by T V Mohandas Pai, president of the Manipal Global Education Services, according to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).

The other panel members include BSE MD and CEO Ashish Chauhan, HDFC Vice President and CEO Keki Mistry, NSE MD and CEO Vikram Limaye, Dolphy Dsouza Partner at Eu0026Y, Prime Database Chief Prithvi Haldea and Sunil Sanghai founder and CEO of Nova Dhruva Capital.

The panel also has representatives from Sebi, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the ministries of finance and corporate affairs.

Sebi member Ananta Barua, its executive director, Amarjeet Singh, chief general manager Jeevan Sonparote and RBI chief general manager, S K Kar, are part of the panel.

Other committee members include Abhilash Nair, associate professor at IIM-Kozhikode; Ramesh Srinivasan, MD and CEO, Kotak Investment Banking; The president of ICAI, Prafulla P Chhajed; and the president of ICSI, Ranjeet Pandey.

The PMAC is significant as it advises Sebi on the framework of policies related to primary markets.

In addition, it advises the market regulator on the issues that must be addressed for changes in the legal framework to introduce simplification and transparency in systems and procedures in the primary market. In addition, it has been entrusted to advise Sebi on matters related to the regulation of intermediaries to ensure the protection of investors in the primary market. SP HRS
