Director Devayush takes a look at the story of ‘Adda
Devayush Chowdhary, a film student at New York University, is ready for the launch of its first Bengali director Adda this September after a brief season in Mumbai.
The cast of this drama of life has a perfect combination of experience and freshness. Soumitra Chatterjee , Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Dipangshu Acharya, Indrasish Roy Prantik Banerjee Saayoni Ghosh , Sourav Das and some new actors will be seen playing fundamental roles. Adda tells the story of Calcutta where past and present coexist, but also raises some serious questions about the decline and possibilities of this existence.
This is the concept of Add a Bengali that we like so much. Basically these are two angels called Black and White (Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Dipangshu Acharya), who come down to earth to decide what to do with humanity, either destroy it or retain it. However, when they land in Kolkata, they discover that nobody really does any work here; rather, everyone is engaged in their Add a sessions, explains Devayush.
The young filmmaker who has previously assisted Kaushik Ganguly in ‘Arekti Premer Golpo’ and Birsa Dasgupta in ‘Jani Dyakha Habey’ adds: “Therefore, they decide to eavesdrop on various Add a sessions and make their decisions. There are four or five narratives that come out of the Add a sessions these two [Black and White] are listening to and all their narratives are interconnected in some way.”
