For abandoned Indian athletes?
NEW DELHI: those for athletes from India may be in a crisis situation before 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games . Some of the national sports federations (NSF) in the country, which have the mandate to organize national competitions for athletes in different categories, are trying to distance themselves from those for sports citing financial overload of resources and complexities involved in Tournament organization
These federations instead want the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) to take control of the entire organization and conduct tournaments for athletes, freeing the NSFs to focus on large capacity events.
The development occurs immediately after the decision of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) in July to eliminate skydiving events from its Annual Competition and Training Calendar (ACTC), placing the ball on the PCI court to perform skydiving activities
However, the strident protests of the PCI have led the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to draw up a temporary agreement in which the NRAI will continue to perform skydiving events until the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. NRAI reluctantly accepted this offer and, as such, the shooting federation has not made any formal commitment with either the UPS or the PCI.
