Indian shutter Riya enters the main picture of the Chinese Taipei Open
TAIPEI: Indian shutter Riya Mookerjee advanced to the women's individual main draw of the Chinese Taipei Open after achieving an exciting victory over Cheung ying Mei from Hong Kong in the qualifying round on Tuesday.
Riya, who had reached the quarterfinals at Swiss Open, rallied to beat Cheung ying 9-21, 21-16, 23-21 in a 34-minute match.
Riya, 20, will face Supanida Katethong, another qualifier from Thailand, in the main draw.
