India vs West Indies: Jasprit Bumrah, the most complete bowler, says Virat Kohli
KINGSTON: pattern of India virat Kohli feel Jasprit Bumrah He is the most complete bowler in the world of cricket at the moment and, with his work ethic, the sprinter has got rid of being a T20 specialist.
Bumrah was called a T20 specialist when he first entered the scene, but Kohli said the 25-year-old pacemaker has proven invaluable in all formats with his work ethic.
It is confused with its angles, swing and rhythm. I think he is the most complete bowler in world cricket at the moment, Kohli said after the victory of India's 257 races in the second test in which Bumrah claimed a hat-trick.
It's really nice to see a guy who was labeled a T20 specialist, came and took over the ODI scene and now Cricket test . It is showing people that they are wrong that there is an established template for each format, he added.
Bumrah became the third Indian cricketer to register a test hat-trick during his lethal opening spell in the first West Indies innings here. And Kohli said that as captain, he's lucky to have him in the ranks.
He (Bumrah) definitely wants to be the best bowler in the world. He has shaped his life like this, he has shaped his discipline, his work ethic. The way he trains, the way he takes care of his diet, has absolute control over what he is doing, he said.
Kohli said it's hard not to feel hitters who are fooled by Bumrah's rhythm and variations.
There is not much you can say about Jasprit and the way he has been bowling. We can all say that we are very lucky to have him on our team. Very rarely do you find a group of bowlers who are hunting together, bowling for each other, bowling in associations, Kohli said.
When he (Bumrah) gets some kind of momentum, then you can see what he can do with 5-6 overs with the new ball in the first innings. I haven't seen many more lethal spells than that. Standing in slips, you feel for the hitters, he added.
Kohli also praised Ravindra Jadeja and explained why the team management prefers the left arm spinner instead of Ravichandran Ashwin in tests abroad.
It is the control with which we can rely on Jadeja. He has probably been our most consistent and accurate bowler outside of India. There is a reason why he is constantly playing in the XI, he said.
Even when the wicket is not supporting your bowling, he still gives you control. He is always in the game and that is his USP. With the bat, with the ball and in the field there is no one better than him in the world.
It is in a great area at the moment. He is willing to contribute to the team all the time. You can see he wants the ball, he wants to do the job for the team, Kohli said.
He picked up Hanuma Vihari for special praise and said the Andhra hitter was the discovery of the tour for India. Vihari emerged as the best race rider with 289 races that included a century and two half centuries in the series of tests just concluded in the Caribbean .
The way he batted under pressure. In much more challenging terrain here in Jamaica, I think his skills were exceptional, Kohli said.
His temperament and technique were top notch. He countered everything the opposition threw at him. So, very satisfied with the way he has behaved.
In addition, Kohli was also glad to see the return to the form of his test assistant Ajinkya Rahane.
He is one of our best test players over the years, he said.
Kohli said India could have registered a 2-0 sweep, but the series against the West Indies was a challenge, especially for hitters.
(We were) pressed several times, especially when we were batting, but we returned very well to the game. I just rode that tide for a moment, the pressure of the opposition and then we hope that the situation will improve and accumulate careers, he said.
"That's what Cricket test is all about. When put under pressure we find ways to come out of that situation."
India's next stop at the ICC World Test Championship is a three-game series against South Africa at home starting October 2 in Visakhapatnam.
We really need to capitalize on the momentum we have here. But it will not be easy, we will be under pressure.
