Virat Kohli beats MS Dhoni to become the most successful test captain in India
NEW DELHI: With a dominant sweep of the 2-0 series against the West Indies on Monday, patron virat Kohli now he is the most successful indian captain in Cricket test . Kohli beat his former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for position number one.
India recorded a clinical victory of 257 races over the Windies in the second test, which also placed them at the top of the ICC World Test Championship table with 120 points. The victory was 28 in the tests for Kohli as patron, taking him over Dhoni (27) on the illustrious list.
Pursuing an almost impossible goal of 468, the West Indies batting once again failed to meet and were eliminated by 210 in 59.5 on the fourth day of the game.
Dhoni had a winning percentage of 45 as captain, after winning 27 games, losing 18 and drawing 15. Meanwhile, Kohli's winning percentage is an impressive 58.33, the best among all other Indian captains in the format. In the 48 tests with Kohli, India recorded 28 wins, lost 10 games and drew another 10.
Kohli had also overcome Sourav Ganguly with the most test wins in matches abroad for India as captain after the victory in the first round of the series. Kohli now has 13 victories as a captain in 27 games, while Ganguly had 11 victories in 28 games.
After Dhoni retired from the longest format of the game during the 2014 tour of Australia, Kohli took over the reigns.
