The growth of eight main sectors slows down to 2.1% in July

NEW DELHI: The growth of eight central industries fell to 2.1 percent in July mainly due to a contraction in coal, crude oil, natural gas and refinery products, according to official data.

The eight main industries in the sector: coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity, expanded 7.3% in July last year.

According to data published by the government on Monday, the production of coal, crude oil, natural gas and refinery products registered negative growth in July.

During April-July, the eight sectors grew 3 percent compared to 5.9 percent in the same period last year.
