Suzuki Motorcycle India registers a 2.2% growth in August sales

NEW DELHI: Suzuki Motorcycle India sold 71,631 units (domestic + exports) in August 2019, registering an increase of 2.2% year-on-year. The accumulated sales for the period from April to August of this year stood at 3.46,018 units, registering a growth of 15.72% over the same period last year.

The company recorded internal sales of 62,752 units despite the current trend of automotive deceleration. Strengthening its portfolio, Suzuki Motorcycle India introduced a large number of products in recent months, ranging from the new Gixxer SF 250 to an updated Gixxer SF 155.

The key reasons for the growth of the brand have been a well-rounded portfolio of products and a continuous effort to reach the target audience in order to reach an agreement with them, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the growth trajectory, Devashish Handa, vice president of Suzuki Motorcycle India, said: “SMIPL continues the growth momentum, despite the significant short-term impact of flooding in the strong Suzuki markets such as Kerala and Maharashtra, and the continuous decline of the industry for the tenth consecutive month. Weak consumer sentiments have been one of the key reasons for the downward trend in the automotive industry. Even in these difficult times, SMIPL has been able to prove its worth.
