US Open: Serena Williams advances in New York despite an ankle injury
NEW YORK: Serena Williams he needed a medical break in the second set of his 6-3, 6-4 victory over Petra Martic on Sunday to receive treatment in the right ankle, but he recovered to advance to the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Williams fell to the court with 2-2 in the second set after charging to the net to hit a volley that sailed a lot.
