Jasprit Bumrah is a bowler for impossible situations: Balaji
The Indian bowling fraternity is going crazy over the success of Jasprit Bumrah & Chennai Super Kings bowling trainer Lakshmipathy Balaji It is no exception.
The CSK team from Balaji could have had trouble dealing with Bumrah during the IPL earlier this year when Mumbai Indians beat them four games in a row, including the all-important final, but the former India paceman is all praise for the way Bumrah delivers time & again.
"It's not just about the hat-trick, Bumrah is a bowler for impossible situations. I love his desperation to take wickets. The captain throws the ball to him when things seem to have gone out of hand & the guy invariably delivers," Balaji told TOI.
Balaji feels the best thing about Bumrah is that he takes the pitch out of the equation. "He can produce those matchwinning spells even on flat decks & the best thing about him is that he is doing it in all formats," the former paceman said.
Balaji himself had struggled with injuries in his career & that's why Bumrah's ability to handle his body so far has impressed him so far. "We all knew how good a bowler Lasith Malinga was, but he used to get injured frequently & couldn't play too many Test matches. Bumrah has got a Test hat-trick so early in his career, I hope he keeps going for a long time."
Balaji feels that if Bumrah can continue as he is, there may be a time when the world remembers him as one of the best in history. Right now, I can't tell you if it will be as good as Wasim Akram or Curtley Ambrose. For that he has to continue doing great things for at least 10-15 years. But he has the ability & I am sure he will do his best to reach those heights," Balaji said.
