The system will be ready in 3 months to offer Aadhaar to the NRIs without waiting 180 days: UIDAI CEO

New Delhi, September 1 () The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that its systems will be ready within three months to offer the facility of issuing NAD Aadhaar cards with Indian passports without the mandatory waiting period of 180 days, as announced in the budget.

UIDAI systems are preparing for installation and the necessary legal measures will be notified soon, said UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey.

UIDAI systems will be adjusted to offer the facilities within three months, he said.

We are working to make the appropriate technological changes and we will provide an appointment facility where people outside the country can also request a schedule and specify the place they would like to go to do their Aadhaar ... as soon as they do. they come to India, they can, very conveniently, go and do their Aadhaar, said Pandey.

In her Budget speech on July 5, the Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman, said: I propose to consider the issuance of the Aadhaar card for non-resident Indians with Indian passports after their arrival in India, without waiting 180 days.

Sources aware of the development said the IT Ministry must issue a notification about it, which is currently on hold.

Meanwhile, UIDAI, which has launched two more Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASK) more in Bhopal and Chennai after the launch of the fourth center in Hisar recently, hopes to meet its goal of opening 114 such centers across the country. months

The UIDAI is creating Aadhaar Seva Kendras, similar to the Seva Kendras Passport concept, which covers 53 cities across the country at an estimated project cost of Rs 300-400 crore.

These Aadhaar centers, intended to facilitate registration, updating and other activities, are owned by UIDAI and operate in addition to thousands of centers that are currently managed by banks and post offices, as well as in government premises (which offer similar services of Aadhaar)

As ASKs have more capacity, more enrollment and update requests can be processed daily compared to other centers. In addition, the new ASK model involves an online appointment management system that allows people to reserve a space at their convenience. The online appointment booking service is now available on the UIDAI website. MBI ABM
