Meeting for a cause for children
Recently, more than 300 students participated in a rally in the suburbs of Bandra. It was organized by Sophia College for women in association with UNICEF Maharashtra to sensitize people about the cruelty that takes place against children. Before the rally, there was a flash mob Children's performance of an organization that works to promote and protect the rights and opportunities of every child in India. Stressing the need to create a safe environment for children, the rally provided a platform for children to express their safety concerns. They also composed, wrote and performed a song that conveyed their concerns.
Calling to action
Vishruta Aiyer, one of the members of the organizing committee of Sophia College, shared: “This year, the theme of our Rally of social cause was - To Stop Violation Against Children. The emphasis should be on teaching kids how to think and not what to think! ”While Sandhyakiran Saroj, a flash mob participant added,“ Today, for the first time, we performed the flash mob on a song about child rights. As a group, we raised our voices about our right to be safe and to be protected from any kind of violence! #When we feel safe is when we feel the freedom. ”
