Delhi: DTC will offer free trips to women in Raksha Bandhan
NEW DELHI: Delhi Transportation Corporation (DTC) will provide free trips to female passengers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan The 15th of August.
This facility will be available both on buses with and without air conditioning.
Two and a half months ago, the Prime Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal had proposed a free trip for women on all DTC buses, cluster buses and Delhi metro trains .
On all DTC buses, cluster buses and subway trains, women will be allowed to travel at no cost so they have a safe travel experience and can access modes of transportation they could not, due to high prices, he said. Kejriwal when speaking a press conference on June 3.
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, said on June 27 at Lok Sabha that he had not received any proposal on the plans of the Delhi government to provide a free trip for women who travel daily in the subway of Delhi.
