Based on a true story

‘Mission Mangal’ traces the story of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). While talking about the film, the director reportedly said that it is a true story in terms of technicalities, but the characters have been fictionalized. Taapsee told IANS, '' It's based on true events but the characters are not specific to particular scientists. '' This is Akshay Kumar's second film of 2019, after 'Kesari', to be based on true events.


Army of five women

The female cast of the film is empowering history, as it talks about gender equality and the power of women. While Vidya plays the role of project manager, Taapsee is in charge of navigation and communication. Sonakshi plays the scientist in charge of propulsion control and Nithya Menon manages the satellite design and Kriti's character manages the Program's Autonomy.

Along with the historical importance, the film will also show us all that goes behind achieving an extraordinary feat as this. Interestingly, Akshay Kumar announced the project on November 5, 2018, and Mars Orbiter Mission was also launched on November 5, but in 2013.
