IIM Jammu will be the first SC chairman of the board of directors in Milind Kamble
NEW DELHI: Industrialist Has Been Appointed Chairman Of The Board Of Governors Of The Indian Institute Of Management, Jammu, And Becomes The First Person In The Community Of Scheduled Cabinets To Take The Position. A Unanimous Decision To Appoint Kamble Was Taken At The Board Meeting In Delhi On Monday.
In October 2018, The Department Of Sciences Said That A New Board Of Governors (BoGs) Should Be Established In Each IIM That Was In Line With 2017 And Attempts To Adapt Existing Boards To New Categorization Are Legally Untenable.
The IIM Law Was Adopted In December 2017 And Notified In February 2018. The Law Requires That Each IIM Must Set Up A 15-member BoG With Representation From Specific Categories. BoG Is The Main Executive Body For The Institute And Is The Most Powerful Body Because The New Law Has Abolished Government Role
Speaking To TOI About His Appointment, Said Kamble, Founder Of The Indian Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (DICCI):" The Government Had Made It Mandatory To Appoint SC/ST To The Board Of Directors, Which Is Why One Can See Outstanding People From These Communities In The Newly Assembled Councils - This Is A New Opportunity Created By The Government To Make A Contribution. "
Kamble Was A Member Of The Previous BoG Of IIM-Kashipur For Three Years And Sees Infrastructure And Finding Good Faculty For New IIMs As The Biggest Challenges." My Priority Would Be To Build Academic Excellence, Improved Infrastructure And A Bridge Between The Academic Academic Gap And 100% Placement In IIM-Jammu, And The Government Has Gave The Autonomy To The IIMs, We Will Try To Use It, Kamble Said.
Kamble Collaborates With A Number Of Government Agencies, Including As A Board Member Of The Indian Council For Cultural Relations And The Institute For The Development Of Entrepreneurship In India.
