14 MLA rebels from Karnataka return to Mumbai hotel
MUMBAI: Fourteen MLA rebels returned to a luxury hotel on Thursday night after presenting their resignations to the Assembly President in Bangalore, a local BJP leader said.
The MLA have returned to the Renaissance hotel in the suburbs and will remain there for another two days, the leader said.
Lawmakers were camping here since Saturday night after resigning and withdrawing the 13-month government support of JD (S) -Congress in Karnataka, on the verge of collapse.
They presented their resignations to the President of the Karnataka Assembly today and now they are back in Mumbai, added the BJP leader.
In Bengaluru, speaker Ramesh Kumar said that the MLA had submitted their resignations in the correct format and that they will have to examine whether they are voluntary and genuine.
The Supreme Court asked the speaker to take a decision immediately on Thursday following the resignation of the MLA from the rebel-JD (S) Congress coalition.
