The rebel MLA of the AAP facing a disqualification demand an interrogation of Saurabh Bhardwaj

NEW DELHI: The disqualification hearing of the rebels Devender Sehrawat and Anil Bajpai, for supposedly joining the BJP, began at the assembly in Delhi on Thursday, and the duo demanded the petitioner's interrogation.

The legislator and spokesperson of AAP had transferred the request for disqualification from Sehrawat and Bajpai on the grounds that they had joined the saffron party during the Lok Sabha polls in May.

They have said in an affidavit that they have not joined the BJP and are with the AAP. They also said that all news reports about joining the BJP are fabricated. On July 20, the next date for hearing, editors and reporters for five. The newspapers would be interrogated by the speaker.

If they (the editors and reporters) support their news reports, Sehrawat and Bajpai would be disqualified, Bhardwaj told PTI.

However, Bajpai, the MLA of the Gandhi Nagar segment, denied having said so in his affidavit, said he demanded an interrogation of Bhardwaj on July 20.

Beejwasan lawmaker Sehrawat said the interrogation of the AAP spokesman was demanded since he claimed to have personal knowledge about the two MLAs that joined the BJP, but he provided newspaper reports as proof of that.

Our legal team demanded to resolve whether the issue of the two of us joining the BJP was based on personal knowledge or press reports from petitioner Bhardwaj, he told PTI.

Sehrawat was marginalized in the long time due to differences with the leaders of the high level party. Both MLAs shared the stage with the main leaders of the BJP during the Lok Sabha polls, although they denied being main members of the party.

The Spekaer Assembly has also sent notices to other MLA rebels of AAP, Kapil Mishra and Sandeep Kumar, about Bhardwaj's requests seeking his disqualification.
