Joe Taslim will portray Sub-Zero on the restart of 'Mortal Kombat'
Actor and martial artist Joe Taslim has been cast in a pivotal role in the next 'Mortal Kombat' restart.
The 38-year-old actor is best known for his films such as 'Fast and Furious 6', 'Star Trek Beyond' and 'The Raid'.
The project is based on the classic arcade game of the 90s that focused on a huge list of characters fighters from different realms in a fictional universe that fought for supremacy.
On the restart, it will be directed by the debutant filmmaker. Simon McQuoid , Taslim will portray Below zero , a character who fights with ice, according to a magazine and American digital website from Hollywood.
James Wan is producing the film, along with Michael Clear, Todd Garner and Jeremy Stein.

It was Paul WS Anderson who had famously adapted the game into a 1995 film, 'Mortal Kombat'.
The film followed some of the classic characters of the game, such as Liu Kang and Johnny Cage, who were invited to a tournament on a mysterious island only to discover that the fate of the world was at stake.
The film was followed by a sequel, 'Mortal Kombat Annihilation', which premiered in 1997.
