NEW DELHI: The Ministry of the Interior said on Tuesday Lok Sabha that the rationalization of the framework in recent years has reduced the average time required for authorizations to 60 days in 2019 from 104 days in 2014.
The Minister of State for the home, in response to a written question, said that the Ministry of the Interior has simplified the framework for security clearance, resulting in a simpler and more efficient process.
The ministry had revised the guidelines on June 25, 2018, on the national security clearance, where the safety parameters were explicitly defined and the formats for the reports of the security agencies, were standardized.
Other measures taken are the prescription formats for security authorization; development of the e-Sahaj online portal to submit security authorization requests; Using the portal for the facilitation of foreign investment for foreign investment applications in government route of approval weekly meetings of the officers' committee headed by a special secretary to consider security clearance in sensitive sectors; and monthly coordination meetings with administrative ministries and security agencies to review and monitor the progress of the proposals.
