TMC asks the mayor of Salt Lake to put his papers

The Trinamool Congress finally decided to eliminate Sabyasachi Dutta as mayor of (BMC).

On Monday, the minister of urban development, Firhad Hakim, reportedly asked Dutta to put his papers, but the defiant mayor said he had not received such a call or instructions from the party. Later, Hakim asked Tapas Chatterjee to initiate a motion of no confidence against him. Chatterjee said he was reaching all the councilors and that the motion would be placed on the BMC board of directors on Wednesday.

I have received instructions from Minister Firhad Hakim to begin the process to file a motion of no confidence against Sabyasachi Dutta. We are informing our councilors to sign the draft, said Chatterjee.

The BMC has 41 councilors, including Dutta, and 36 of them had urged party leaders on Sunday to oust the mayor for his anti-party activities.
