UP: 8 dead, 2 injured in collision at truck tempo in Auraiya

KANPUR: Up to eight people, including five teachers, were killed, while two others were injured after a high-speed truck collided with a beat on the Dibiyapur-Bela highway, under the boundaries of the Sahayal police station in the district , Saturday morning.

The injured persons were transferred to the district hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to postmortem.

Additional investigations are underway and searches are underway to arrest the driver of the fleeing truck.

The accident occurred around 6:30 am when the rhythm driver tried to overcome another rhythm and collided with a truck coming in the opposite direction, said Superintendent of Police Suniti.

Suniti said that eight passengers of the pace died at the scene, while two others suffered serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Swaroopa Shukla (61), Rakesh Gupta (60), Swatantra Verma (60), Dinesh Kumar Verma (40), Pankaj Pathak (35), tempo conductor, Santosh Rajput (50), Babol Singh Bhadauriya ( 45)) and Jameel (42).

The head of government, Yogi Adityanath, expressed his grief over an accident. The CM ordered the officials to provide the best possible medical assistance to the injured people.
