Parupalli Kashyap and Sourabh Verma enter the quarterfinals at the Canadian Open

Calgary: Indian carriers Parupalli Kashyap & Sourabh verma offered gritty performances to advance to the men's singles quarterfinals of USD75,000 Canadian Open Super 100 tournament here.

Sixth seed Kashyap, a former Commonwealth Games champion, fought for an hour & 24 minutes before quelling a stiff challenge from China's Ren Peng Bo 23-21, 21-23, 21-19, while reigning national champion Sourabh eked out a 21-13, 15-21, 21-15 win over another Chinese Sun Fei Xiang.

Kashyap, who had reached the semifinals of the Indian Open, will face Frenchman Lucas Claerbout, while Sourabh will face Li Shi Feng of China.

It's hard to win today. I'm happy to get to the rooms, Kashyap wrote after the game.

Sourabh was also happy with his performance.
