Lawyers of Gujarat move to SC for Justice Kureshi

NEW DELHI: The Association of Supreme Court Advocates moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking an address to the Center to implement the recommendation of the SC school to appoint the Bombay HC judge, Akil Kureshi, as chief judge of HC.

The association said that Kureshi was appointed a judge of Gujarat HC in 2004 and was functioning as acting judge of HC when he was transferred to Bombay HC in November last year. The SC college headed by Justice had recommended to the government on May 10 to appoint Judge Kureshi as CJ of MP HC.

There were other names recommended by the school to be named as CJs of other HCs. But the government has not yet implemented the school's recommendation for the appointment of CJ for the HC of MP and Andhra Pradesh .
