Afghanistan needs speed, admits the captain of the World Cup, Gulbadin Naib
LEEDS (United Kingdom): Captain of Afghanistan Gulbadin Naib He admits that his team would benefit from the appearance of a first-class bowler to complement his quality spin attack.
Naib's side, which has lost all eight of its group matches, will play its final game in this year's World Cup when they face the West Indies in Leeds on Thursday.
Although the spinners of Afghanistan Rashid Khan & Mujeeb Ur Rahman Match winners are possible, Naib knows that the team needs a higher-pitched attack to annoy the best teams in the world.
If you look at the last two or three years, we only depend on the spinners, especially when Mujeeb joined the team, Naib said.
"We have two spinners in Rashid & Mujeeb. So if you work on the fast bowlers in the last two or three years, maybe we have good pacers now in this tournament.
This is a problem. We did not find the department of fast bowlers. We all work in the spinners, that's why we have world-class spinners.
Naib has not lost hope that the talent seekers of his country can discover the kind of quality player he needs.
If you find two, three, good fast players, maybe it's good for us here in the World Cup, he said.
Hopefully in the future we can find a good fast bowler. And I hope you're working on it.
