Petition of SC Junks against ILP

NEW DELHI: The SC rejected on Tuesday a PIL that sought to end the Internal Line Permit system, in vogue in some border states, alleging that it impeded the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of citizens to circulate freely in India. A bank headed by CJ dismissed the statement of lawyer Ashwni Upadhyay saying: You do not know the basic reality in these states.

Let the Internal Line Permit system remain. Upadhyay then tried to give it a community color by arguing that the movement of people belonging to the community is being restricted through the system. The bank warned him not to introduce religion into the subject.
