After years of a dispute over whether it would arise in Bengaluru or Mysuru, work on the idol of Kannada, the idol of Vishnuvardhan memorial It started in Heritage City this week in the midst of strict security. Veteran actress Bharathi Vishnuvardhan , the wife of the deceased actor, and his son-in-law Aniruddha Jatkar , visited the memorial site at Halalu village, near Udbur gate, on the outskits of Mysuru on Monday.nBharathi says, We are relieved that all the impediments have been cleared and work has begun on the Vishnuvardhan memorial, which will come up on over five acres of land. We are hopeful of finishing construction in two years. Along with the memorial, there will be a museum, photo expo of Vishnvardhan and space for amateur artistes to showcase their talent. This memorial belongs to Vishnuvardhan fans. We want people to visit from all over the country.

The Karnataka High Court had recently given a green signal for the construction of the memorial by vacating a civic injunction issued by a Mysuru court. The state government had previously allocated five acres of land to the Department of Information and Public Relations and `5 crore to build the memorial. The land has now been handed over to Vishnu Pratishtana Trust, which is headed by Chief Minister Kumaraswamy HD. Although fan associations of Vishnuvardhan wanted the memorial to come up in Bengaluru, Bharathi insisted it come up in Mysuru as it is the late actor's birth place. The long delay in constructing a memorial in Bengaluru is also seen as a reason for it finally coming up in Mysuru.
