Rs 235 million rupees spent on the Lower Tapi irrigation project without fruits: CAG
MUMBAI: Due to the delayed implementation of the Comptroller and the Auditor General's Report 2018, the expense of Rs 235 million in the project was unsuccessful.
The project was initially approved in 1997, but underwent multiple revisions. The non-completion of the designs resulted in frequent extensions for the project, the last one was granted until March 2020. It could also acquire only 8.6% of the land required in 19 years, as found.
The report also noted that due to a revision, the design and plans of the radial doors and the stop registration doors should be revised. As a result, the contractor was asked to stop work in 2014, when almost 44% of the work at the door had been completed.
