Kartik Aaryan is ready to carry out the 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' franchise; The first calendar is expected to begin at the end of the year.

Espejo (May 14) had previously reported that Bhushan Kumar has given the green light to a sequel to his 2007 horror comedy 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'. Now we have learned that Kartik Aaryan that kicked off Bhushan's remake of BR Chopra's 1978 drama Pati Patni Aur Woh 'early this year, will play the lead in' Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'.

While the manufacturers have blocked the idea, the script is still to be finalized. But the idea was shared with Kartik, who liked it and agreed to carry out the franchise with the story set in a metropolis, informed a source close to the development.

With Stree giving a boost to the horror-comedy genre, writers are focussed on weaving an interesting plot with music playing an important part in it. The director will be locked in a few days, following which they will decide on the leading lady and the rest of the cast, said the source. Bhushan always wanted to continue with 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and is invested in the film. He is looking to start filming by the year-end.

The original, directed by Priyadarshan, was inspired by the Tamil film of Rajinikanth 2005 Chandramukhi , which in turn was a new version of the 1993 Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu. It revolved around a couple played by Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja, who move to their ancestral home, turning a deaf ear to warnings about ghosts at the facility. Soon, mysterious events force Shiney to summon her psychiatrist-friend, played by Akshay Kumar , to rescue them.

Kartik has also registered in the sequel to Dostana by newcomer director Collin D'Cunha. It will have Janhvi Kapoor and a new actor. He has also committed to the comedic film of Anees Bazmee with Disha Patani.
