According to the latest report of Boxofficeindia.com, on Sunday, the film has managed to accumulate a total of Rs 7.75 million rupees on its third day at the box office. Despite the Indian World Cup match against England on the day, the film managed to be higher than Saturday's. The film has managed to raise a total of Rs 19.75 million rupees in its first weekend at the box office.
In the midst of all the controversies that surrounded the film since the release of its trailer, the film dealt with the protests, especially of the upper caste and the Bhramin communities, claiming that it casts the upper castes of society in a negative way. The trailer of the film has created a stir among the Hindu fringed outfits, including Karni Sena, for trying to damage the reputation of the Brahmins. The director had also received death threats for himself and his family.
The screening of the Anubhav Sinha directorial was suspended in Kanpur following protests by a religious group. A group entered two theaters and stopped the screening of the film, following which exhibitors decided to put the screening of the film on hold.
The movie revolves around Article 15 of the Indian constitution that prohibits the discrimination of any citizen for reasons of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them. Ayushmann is seen in an intense police role in the film.
The film will have a world premiere at the tenth edition of the Indian Film Festival in London. Helmed by Sinha, movie stars Isha Talwar , M Nassar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta , Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. ' Article 15 ' hit the theatres on June 28.
