MP declares that nine Covid-19 districts are free
BHOPAL: The government has stated that nine districts in the state, which had previously reported Covid-19 cases, were now free of coronaviruses.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Mohammed Suleman said that the nine districts, Barwani, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Sheopur, Alirajpur, Harda, Shahdol, Tikamgarh and Betul, were now free of infection.
It was stated during a review meeting on Friday.
Aside from this, so far no Covid-19 cases have been detected in eight districts of the state, Suleman said.
Testing has increased in the state, he said, adding that at least 5,822 swab samples were collected on Friday alone, while 93,849 samples have been analyzed so far.
Of the 4,595 positive coronavirus cases reported in the state as of Friday, 45 percent were active, he added.
According to the latest data from the health department, Covid-19 cases were reported in 32 districts as of May 1, and as of May 15, their tracks have spread to 44 of the state's 52 districts.
In some districts, new cases were reported after the arrival of migrant workers, an official said.
Damoh district recorded its first case on Friday, when a migrant worker, who arrived from Mumbai, tested positive for the infection, he said.
As of Friday night, 239 patients have succumbed to the pandemic.
