Covid-19: India likely to produce 2 million PPE in late June

NEW DELHI: As India's manufacturing capacity for (PPE) for medical personnel treating patients touched 3 lakh per day earlier this week, the projected requirement of 2 crore coveralls is estimated to be met by end of June. So far, around 50 lakh have been manufactured and another 50 lakh is expected to be ready by the end of this month.

About one crore PPE is expected to be manufactured in June, according to information available with the textile ministry. PPE kits are being shipped to states by the ministry of medical personnel.

According to information available with the ministry, 400 manufacturers have been certified, of which 100 are supplying HLL Lifecare Limited, the designated one-stop purchasing agency. The rest are ready to take orders from the states.
