World Bank Approves $ 1 Billion Additional Aid For India

WASHINGTON: The World Bank approved a $ 1 billion social protection package for India on Friday tied to central government programs.

The World Bank also said that the $ 1 billion social protection package was in addition to the previous $ 1 billion package allocated to India for the COVID-19 health and emergency response systems.

World Bank billions of dollars of support for social protection will help India take advantage of Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana, World Bank (India) director Junaid Kamal Ahmad said on Friday.

Aid from the World Bank comes as the country continues to falter under the COVID-19 pandemic.
