Yashaswini and Rudrankksh claim the top positions in the 3rd International Online Shooting Championship
NEW DELHI: Tokyo Olympics quota holder Yashaswini Singh Deswal and adolescent prodigy Rudrankksh Patil claimed first place on Saturday in the 10m Pistol and 10m Air Rifle Finals respectively at the 3rd International Online Shooting Championship.
Maharashtra's Rudrankksh won the 10m air rifle event with a world record score of 252.9 but will not be recorded by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) since it was not a recognized event.
Another young Indian shooter, Yash Vardhan, took second place with a score of 250.8, while Etienne Germond of France finished third after scoring 228.5.
In the final of the 10m air pistol, Yashaswini, who had won a gold medal at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro last year to secure an Olympic quota, shot 243.8 to claim first place.
Gaurav Rana and Manu Bhaker , medalist in the ISSF World Cup, the Commonwealth Games and the Youth Olympics , finished second and third with scores of 240.6 and 218.3, respectively, to make it a fully Indian affair.
It is the third edition of the championship where participants logged into the Zoom platform from their respective locations and fired electronic targets, installed in their homes.
