More than 25 grandmasters will participate in the Indian Chess League starting May 15

CHENNAI: the top of India Chess players including talented youngsters like R Praggnanandhaa, D Gukesh, Nihal Sarin and national champion Aravindh Chithambaram will participate in the Indian Chess.com League to be played online May 15-17.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament that will feature the participation of more than 25 Indian Grand Masters.

The main vision of the tournament is to bring out the best players in our country to play against each other in a team format, organizers said.

GM Priyadarshan Kanappan, the league's commissioner, said: The Sports League was something he was very familiar with as he lived in the USA. USA, where there were leagues for all sports; so I always wondered if we could replicate that format in India, and this is how this league idea came about.
