CAB conducts sports psychology session for female players
KOLKATA: Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) is taking every step to keep its cricket players ready for action once the situation improves for the game to happen. After online sessions with Bengal players and CAB batting consultant VVS Laxman , the association organized a webinar for cricket players with Dr. Reena Kaul, Senior Scientific Officer (Sports Psychology), Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Saturday.
Kaul focused primarily on how to stay stress free, improve fitness, and maintain a positive mindset during this confinement time. Cricket players from the Under-23 and U-19 categories of women attended the session along with the Bengal manager cricket operations Joydeep Mukherjee , U19 women's coach Priyanka Roy, assistant coach Arpita Ghosh, coach Manoshi Parui, physio Moulima Patra and coach Sujata Sinha.
It was a very useful and interactive session, Coach Roy said.
It was a much-needed session to keep players away from stress and a negative mindset at this difficult time, said CAB Apex Council member Gargi Banerjee.
While we had already started online training programs to keep them physically fit, we have now hired a senior sports psychologist to keep players in mental shape as well, said the CAB president. Avishek Dalmiya set.
Kaul, who has been associated with SAI for over 25 years, was also happy with the session. It is important to keep in touch with the players and the coach since now it is not possible to play, he commented.
In this difficult time, his main advice to the players was to stay positive and self-confident.
The players had an online session with the former Indian wicket wielder Deep Dasgupta earlier this week too.
